The School of Buddhist Arts

The school building is one of the old buildings that were used as monks quarters. Beautiful murals of the past lives of the Buddhas and great masters covered every inch of the walls and ceilings. There used to be 100 of such buildings in the old days, each with similar historical murals. Unfortunately, most of the murals and buildings were destroyed in the 1960¡¯s. The monk who lived in this building risked his life to protect its murals and hence the building, one of the 2 historical buildings that survived the destruction, was spared and preserved. The building is now not used for resident purpose and is being converted to become a school of Buddhist arts, including thangkas and murals paintings.
